I've heard back from Proton support regarding the inability of Proton P**** to check for updates OR to update itself. Their response: "For now, in order to have the latest version of the app, you will need to download the latest version and install it manually." The problem has been p****ed along to their development team for study and solution. - - Gradually, very gradually, Proton is catching up with the importance of update systems in their apps. I hate nagging. But when it works... 😠

1.30.0 is out. Yup, you have to DIY update. I've contacted them yet again about the lack of auto-updates or update available notices. And they 100% botched their response, paying zero attention to what I wrote them, going so far as to put an erroneous title on the issue in response. Updates remains the CORE failure of Proton, despite complaints. I A S S O T S. Frustrating. Unprofessional. I like their actual software enough that I'm an "Unlimited" users. But their software project manager reminds me of Craig Federighi, which is to say I consider them dysfunctional. IF by some miracle this nonsense changes, I'll post. Otherwise, I'm done bothering to harp on this BS.

(0_o) I'm running v1.28.0 and it is giving NO indication there is an update OR providing any method of checking if there is an update. (>_<) Grr!

And now we're back to long delayed updates. This one is currently a little over a week late. Therefore: 😛 Delay problem NOT solved. I find their delay excuses to be irrational and potentially a security problem. What goes on over there? I knocked a point off again. *sigh*

√ Solved. My fault for not understanding. This is odd, but it works: Proton stagger their automatic updates to their apps. In my case it took 3 days. But it did auto-updated! So I tossed them back to 4 stars. Their Support, albeit not communicating well with the coders, is excellent. Faith restored. Person correction attained.
